Kindred Martial Arts Schools have a range of different training programs to meet the varying interests of current and prospective students. Some students wish to pursue a more traditional path in the martial arts; learning techniques and progressing through the range of belt ranks from white belt to black belt. Other students seek a no nonsense training program for a more reality based type of application, which is outside of the traditional "ways" of the arts, yet still can lead to achieving black belt rank. Still others seek the simple "nuts & bolts" of personal self defensive without earning belt rank. Regardless of the type of program chosen, each has its own unique curriculum. Some programs are fairly extensive and conducted over extended periods of time, others are simplistic and custom tailored to the individual student based on their own personal goals, which may accomplished in a short series of sessions. Training modules and blocks of instruction cover offensive and defensive techniques, real life and reality-based scenarios, human physiology to include nerve and pressure points, as well as joint locks and manipulation, and kinesthetics. We employ static training methods to build repetition and muscle memory, as well as spontaneous unscripted training scenarios to gauge how well students can apply what they are learning. In the traditional programs, there are eight (8) different belt ranks ranging from white to black, with at least one intermediate step with each rank. Each belt rank has a set number of requirements needed before promotion to the next rank. The different belt ranks and requirements for each are further described here. |
